Pine forests... again

Went to the pine forests on the Bruce Highway on Thursday with my model Zoe and Josh came along to help as well. Overall i am disappointed with the photos i took but it cant hurt to share them anyway. Well have a look and i hope you like them even if i don't! This first one is my favourite from the day.

Dad

I have always noticed that the window in my bathroom gives off some really nice light as there is a big white house next door and the light reflects off the house and comes through the window and the textured glass diffuses the light pretty well. So stuck in the house on a rainy day i asked my reluctant dad to get in front of the camera. I only took a few photos but this is the one i liked most.

Quarry.

Andrew and I made an impulse decision to go check out the quarry on the full moon the other night. We weren't really sure if the quarry was still being used or not so we weren't sure if there would be security. So we thought we would play it safe and go in the back way. This meant a couple of kilometers of hiking through bushland. Andrew and I being so super smart thought that google earth is a fool proof way of not getting lost while hiking through the bush. We thought it would be as simple as walking up a hill untill we reached the top and there the quarry would be... wrong. After walking for almost an hour and running into way to many spiders webs we reached the top but the quarry was no where in sight, just more bush. So we thought we would walk in the direction the quarry should be. We ended up walking back downhill through grass that was up higher than our head. It was so thick we could not even touch the ground. At some points it was more swimming than walking. We figured that we were completely lost and would walk to the closes lights we could see. After about an hour of this we were quite close to some houses. Except there was an avalanche net between us and the houses/road. this thing had to be about 5 or 6 meters high (it felt that high at the time at least) so Andrew being the parkour fiend climbed it first and i passed him the camera gear.

Andrew was already about a meter or two off the ground in this photo. The climb was not as easy for me, Climbing fences and buildings isn't something i do in my spare time like Andrew.

We got down and onto the road and i grabbed this shot of Andrew looking back up at the bush where we had come from.

We realised we were at the back of the retirement home. which was only about a km walk from the quarry so we made our way over to the quarry and ended up just walking in the front entrance. We felt like royal fools.

After walking around the quarry for a while we found this piece of machinery that looked like it hadn't been used in a few years. We had a bit of a climb on it and took some photos.

There wasn't too much else at the quarry, just an old shed that was quite boring really. So after all that we had a hectic walk back to the car. Never have i been happier to get off my feet. They were killing me by the end of the night

Overcast Cartwright

Got up at some ridiculous hour this morning to drive to the sunny coast with Chris. It was a shitty overcast morning, but managed to get one or two alright ones just before we left as the clouds cleared in places. This is probably my favorite from the morning. Pretty shit but considering how bad the sunrise was i don't think i did to bad haha.

Kurt

Skipped class with Kurt today to do some assignments. Well mainly for him to take photos of me for his assignments haha. But before we finished up i pulled out my camera and thought i might take a quick one of him. It was really bright out so it was hard for the poor boy not to squint ;)

Draw Your Lines

Had an awesome shoot on saturday with the band Draw Your Lines, absolutely great bunch of guys. This was definitely one of the most fun shoots i have been on. We headed up north to the pine forests on the Bruce Highway. We didn't think to take any mosquito repellent and we got torn to pieces by the little bastards haha. Well anyway here are some shots from the day.

click on pics to view large.

This is probably one of my favourite group shots from the day.

This one i don't like as much but its something different so i thought i would throw it in there.

Two of my favourite single shots from the day. The idea of this actually came from one of the band members. I'm glad they suggested it because i think it turned out great.

You can check out their music on their myspace here... http://www.myspace.com/drawyourlinesmusic

Enjoy :)

Light Painting

We got an assignment at TAFE to do light painting, I thought it was going to be the most boring thing in the world but i actually ended up having fun with it. Im not a fan of just writing stuff with torches and glowsticks so i went the other way from most people in the class and actually painted things with light.

this was 7 exposures all up, one for each chair, one for the back wall and one for me standing there in the welding mask. it kind of looks like i have just taken a photo of a chair and photshoped it all together like this but if you view it large you can see more detail and you can actually see that it was all taken in a room.
